hpnssh - An open source implementation of SSH protocol version 2 with HPN extensions
- Description:
HPNSSH (High Performance Networking Secure SHell) is a program for
logging into and executing commands on a remote machine. SSH is
intended to replace rlogin and rsh, and to provide secure encrypted
communications between two untrusted hosts over an insecure network.
X11 connections and arbitrary TCP/IP ports can also be forwarded over
the secure channel.
HPNSSH is Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center's version of OpenSSH with
additional functionality and performance. OpenSSH is OpenBSD's version
of the last free version of SSH, bringing it up to date in terms of
security and features. Default port is 2222. Client still assumes
port 22 for compatibility.
This package includes the core files necessary for both the OpenSSH
client and server. To make this package useful, you should also
install hpnssh-clients, hpnssh-server, or both. This package includes
the HPNSSH extensions to OpenSSH.

Changelog
by Chris Rapier (2023-09-27):
- Aside form the upgrade to the 18.1.0 hpnssh set I had to
modify the redhat.patch to include the chacha20-poly1305-mt@hpnssh.org
cipher in the redhat addons to ssh_config and sshd_config.
Note: It turns out that they made aes256-gcm the default. So there is
that.
